Constructivism and Autonomous Learning

Hello everyone! 😊

Today I'm going to talk about "Constructivism and Autonomous Learning".

Constructivism is a learning theory that emphasizes the importance of learners active participation in constructing their own understanding and knowledge. In constructivism, learners are encouraged to explore and experiment with concepts and ideas in order to make connections between new information and existing knowledge. This approach emphasizes the role of social interaction in learning, as learners engage in discussions and collaborate with others to create meaning. Constructivism seeks to promote critical thinking, problem solving skills, and collaboration through inquiry based approaches that encourage learners to ask questions and seek out answers for themselves. Furthermore, constructivism sets a foundation for many modern approaches to teaching and learning, such as task- based learning, problem-based learning, project-based learning.

On the other hand, autonomous learning means that learners are self-directed or capable of working independently. The characteristics of an autonomous learner are self-control, logical intelligence, independence, and self-motivated. Autonomous learning helps students become more aware of their own learning styles and increases their ability to learn effectively in the long term. Also learners are motivated, interested  and engaged in learning process and are able to choose methods how they want to learn. Students teach how to discover information on their own.

To conclude, constructivism and autonomous learning are very important strategies that help students to develope responsibility, decision-making, problem solving, interpersonal skills, critical and creative thinking and also help them to develope passion for areas of learning that interest them.

  1. Hello Fjona!
Hope you are doing great today!
I like your reflection, you have been objective and you have explained in a chronological order what you have perceived from constructivism learning.I like the fact that you have mentioned precisely the characteristics of this form of learning, that was the aim of this topic reflection.
The only thing I would suggest is the use of bullet points or colors to make the visual reflection better for readers. :)
    Overall,it was good.
    Thank You ,Fjona!
